How To: Track Days
“Every day I’m riding the bike I’m living. Every other day is just waiting” – Evel Knievel
Intro
Would you be interested in using your Supermotard as it was intended? With no Police to issue tax collecting fines or hoon notices for popping wheelies…no cars, busses, trucks or pushbikes to contend with?
And all for $55 per day (+ $20 day licence if required)? What if I added a genuine camaraderie shared by a bunch or supermoto diehards more than willing to share info about how to get the most from you bike? How about the opportunity to enhance your own road craft skills and the chance to ride a fair dinkum racetrack complete with dirt and tar sections? Sound awesome? …well it is a typical Track Day enjoyed by a growing number of adult and junior riders and the best part is you are welcome.
This “how to” is aimed at the novice rider and based on the recreational ride day model developed by Atujara Motorcycle Club and Quad Riders SA. It is designed to encourage those supermoto road riders thinking about making the leap or for those already attending track days but could use the checklist downloadable from Supermoto Australia Magazine (supermotoaustralia.com).
The key message I wish to promote here is one of maximum safety while enjoying maximum fun. Supermoto riding like all other motosports carries an inherent risk so being prepared helps to minimise the unexpected.
